The Memorial Home of Croatian Veterans was built in the Borovo settlement near the local community that in 1991 housed the command of that part of the city. The building is fashioned in the shape of a tightly clenched fist, symbolising the strength with which Vukovar defended itself against aggression. At the centre of the House is a pit with the dome of a destroyed former JNA tank, and around it are the names of the fallen members of the 204th Vukovar Brigade. On twelve video screens set into the walls can be seen wartime photographs and footage of the early events, accompanied by authentic wartime reports.
In front of the Memorial Home stands a tank as a sign of the force broken by the brave defenders, and a statue of Blago Zadro, the hero of Vukovar who fought and led the defenders right here in this part of Vukovar.
The author of the Memorial Home of Croatian Veterans on Trpinjska Road is the Zagreb sculptor Miljenko Romić.
